Appliance Repair Tip

Katy Appliance Repair & Maintenance Tip

Each year thousands of fires are started as a result of excessive buildup of dryer lint causing literally $ Millions in property damage. Every time a clothes dryer operates, a very small amount of material from the tumbling clothing sheds off and enters the dryer lint screen and into the lint discharge hose.  While most lint travels safely out of the house, a certain amount of lint residue is left behind in the crevices and folds of the dryer frame and in the lint exhaust tube itself.

Once a certain amount of lint accumulates, it’s susceptible to igniting by either an electrical spark , build up of heat from the eating element itself or from excessive friction. Dryer lint is extremely combustible so it’s imperative that your lint exhaust hose remains clean and free of excessive lint buildup. Make sure that your dryer vent is constructed of a solid metallic material and not composed of more common but dangerous vinyl or foil materials. Also make sure your dryer vent is free of kinks that reduce its ability to properly evacuate lint material. 90 degree kinks or bends in the dryer duct behind the appliance are very common problems and should be corrected immediately if located.

If you would like for one of our Houston Katy metro area appliance repair and service professionals to completely clean out and eliminate excessive lint in your dryer and exhaust system, call us at today (832) 321-3758!
